Day 8 (Friday 15 August 2025) Time to go home ....

Check out day! We loaded the cars, said our goodbyes to the Deaves, called at Proudfoot's for some Yorkshire brack and then went to the Yew Tree Cafe in Scalby village for brunch.

Next stop was the Esplanade on the south side and a walk to the Italian Gardens.

We then made our way to Hunmanby Gap which had been recommended by Tony.  What an amazing beach! James and Bowie had loads of fun on the beach and in the sea and both were soaking wet when we got back to the car.

It was then the drive home after what has been a wonderful week on the coast.

Day 7 (Thursday 14 August 2025) Scarborough's South Side

It was so good to have a visit from our friend Sarah McCarthy this morning. She is always so much fun and there are never any awkward silences.

After Sarah had left we went to the south side. We parked on the Esplanade and walked down to the beach where James and Bowie had a great time: Bowie chased about like a mad thing and James enjoyed digging.

We then had a walk along the sea front to the lifeboat house. Unfortunately the main lifeboat was out but it was still a nice visit.

Elizabeth wanted to visit the Harbour Bar but it was packed so we had a cone instead.

We then realised that our three hours' parking was nearly up so we hurried back to the spa where we got the cliff lift back to the Esplanade.

When back at the house there was another game of cricket followed by tea. Chris once again proved how good he would be on 'Ready Steady Cook' by rustling up a tasty risotto from the food we had left in the fridge.
